4-18-13  SAINT JAMES 2, Catholic-Montgomery 1


The Saint James Trojans (8-6-2, 3-3) varsity boys defeated Montgomery Catholic (1-11, 0-6) 2 – 1 at Carlisle Field on the Saint James Campus in their final area game and on Senior Night 2013.  Ian Tsekouras scored first for Saint James in the 24th minute with an assist from Coleman Taylor.  Later, during some intense action in the box, Grayson Rutherford scored Saint James’s second goal in the 26th minute.  Catholic’s Ryan Norris snuck in their only goal in the 39th minute and the half ended with the Trojans leading 2 - 1.  Saint James had eleven shots on goal and Deshaun Lewis had three saves. Catholic had four shots on goal and nine saves.

The Saint James defense stepped up in the second half only allowing Catholic one shot on goal for the remainder of the game.  The Trojans had six shots on goal in the second half, but neither team was able to score and the match ended with Saint James winning 2 - 1.

For the game, Saint James took 22 shots, 17 on goal, while the Knights had 6 shots, with 5 on goal.  Dashaun Lewis had four saves with one allowed and Catholic’s Sam McLaughlin had fifteen saves with two allowed.  Saint James had five corner kicks and Catholic had three.  Grayson Rutherford was named Man of the Match.
