Saint James won the coin toss and elected to defer their choice until the second half.  Unfortunately, it would be one of the few instances something good would happen for the Trojans.  After a pooch kickoff was fielded at the 36 yard line, the Eagle's Reid McBride spent no time finding an uncovered Jarrett Friendly on the far sidelines for an easy 64 yard catch and run touchdown.  After a penalty on the extra point attempt, Ali Nelson ran in a two point conversion and the Eagles were up 8 - 0 only 16 seconds into the game.

A three and out gave M A the ball on their own 44 yard line and powered primarily by the legs of Braden Gordon, the Eagles moved 56 yards in 9 plays.  The final 9 came on McBride's second touchdown pass to William Marks.  The extra point snap was botched, but holder Jarrett Friendly scooped up the ball and ran in for another two point conversion, and M A was up 16 - 0 midway through the first quarter.

The Trojans went three and out again, and the Eagles traveled 62 yards in 4 plays.  McBride carries of 18 and 7 yards, a 16 yard run by Gordon, and McBride's third touchdown, a 21 yarder to Friendly.  This time McBride kicked the extra point and Saint James was down 23 - 0 still in the first quarter.

Cam Hartley on a forward toss by Michael Hassell enabled the Trojans to pick up their initial first down of the game, but another punt before the end of the quarter gave the ball right back to M A.  After a 37 yard catch and run by Friendly advanced the ball to the Trojan 10, a 4 yard Gordon run and a 6 yard run by Nelson partnered with the second of what would be six consecutive extra point kicks by McBride boosted the lead to 30 - 0 just into the second quarter.

On the next Eagles drive, a curious unsportsmanlike conduct foul was called on the Saint James bench and 15 free yards were granted after the punt return.  Friendly caught a 35 yard pass on the first scrimmage play, and Gordon picked up his first of two touchdowns with a 17 yard scamper to increase the lead to 37.  A William Marks interception and 50 yard return gave M A a late scoring chance, and consecutive 10 yard runs by Gordon ended the first half with the Eagles holding a 44 - 0 lead.

Six minute quarters were mutually agreed upon by the coaches at halftime, as a "running clock" is no longer an option.  The Eagles would not actually run an offensive play in the entire third quarter, but Friendly secured his third touchdown of the game on a 67 yard pick six which boosted the lead to 51 - 0.  With substitutes on both sides playing most of the second half, the Eagles second string would drive for a touchdown provided by backup quarterback Jabarie Burton, a 9 yard run, and Saint James ran out the clock after a region loss hoping to heal and improve the following week as the Trojans would venture for their first out of state game in history against Lamar of Meridian, Mississippi.
