Saint James sputtered on offense, but used the field position game and two early defensive punting miscues to grab an early lead and hold on for their first shutout in five seasons as the Trojans celebrated Homecoming by Getting In The Groove with a 15 - 0 victory over the first time opponent Fort Dale Academy Eagles.  Amazingly in this game, a week after the two teams combined for a combined 841 scrimmage yards, this game produced the second lowest total of all times, only 155 total net yards in scrimmage plays.

Fort Dale won the coin toss and elected to defer.  After a good kickoff return by Benton Offord, Cam Hartley picked up 39 yards on consecutive carries to start the drive.  However, an overthrown snap, a problem which resurfaced in this game perhaps due to the overly moist conditions, resulted in a loss and stalled the drive.  An endzone punt pinned the Eagles and they punted after a three and out.  The Trojans could not take advantage of the good field position and returned the punt to the Eagles 8.  A holding penalty eliminated a potential first down run, and on fourth down from the endzone the Eagles punt was blocked on the goal line and recovered by Connor Adams for an immediate touchdown.  Ethan Tapia's extra point gave Saint James a 7 - 0 lead late in the first quarter.

The Eagles were again pinned after a holding penalty on the kickoff return.  On fourth down, a wayward snap resulted in the punter being tackled in the endzone for a safety, and without running an offensive play Saint James had a quick nine points on the scoreboard.

Saint James returned the free kick to the Eagle 43, and picked up several first downs.  A 12 yard scamper by Michael Hassell which would have been a touchdown was erased by a block in the back penalty, and several plays later Justin van Gliessel attempted a 38 yard field goal, which was unsuccessful.

Fort Dale virtually ran out the first half on a wild drive which lasted 18 plays, but netted only 26 yards of offense.  A Trojan offside penalty on fourth down extended the drive, but a penalty and negative plays offset that first down, and with only 32 seconds to go the Trojan defense forced a punt and Hassell merely downed the ball to give Saint James a 9 - 0 lead at halftime.

Despite some light showers, the 2026 Homecoming festivities were held at halftime, and Lily Stanford was presented as the newest Saint James Homecoming Queen.

The Eagles drove with some momentum to start the third quarter, making a rare venture into Trojan territory.  On fourth down and 7, a pass completion which would have been good enough for a first down went for naught as the ball was fumbled and Saint James recovered at their own 26.  Hartley picked up 12 yards on first down, but Saint James punted which led to a series of three and outs leading into the fourth quarter.  After Fort Dale failed on fourth down from their own 39, Saint James finally converted an offensive drive score.   It did not start well as the first two plays lost 7 yards.  However, on third down, Hassell found Mikell Delbridge with a 17 yard pass which just earned a first down at the Eagle 29.  On the next play, Hartley finally had his breakaway run and scooted 29 yards up the middle for a touchdown.  Another wayward snap on a two point conversion try led to a failure, but the Trojans seemed to ice the game with a 15 point lead midway through the fourth quarter.

A muffed and fumbled kickoff return gave the Trojans outstanding field position at the Eagles 6 yard line, but on third down another fumble meant a loss of 18 yards and a loss of possession.  With rain falling and a wet football in play, the Eagles fumbled a few plays later after a short pass reception giving Saint James another first down at the Eagles 23, but a fumble on the next play thwarted that drive as well.  A quarterback sack eventually led to a misconversion on fourth down for the Eagles, and after Hartley picked up 11 yards for a first down, Hassell merely downed the ball twice and the Trojans had evened their record at 2 - 2 and vaulted to the top of the Class A Region 2 lead with a 2 - 0 record.  However, a trip down Vaughn Road to Montgomery Academy would be coming up the next week in a crucial region contest.
