Saint James could not overcome five turnovers, some untimely penalties, and a senior-laden Trinity defense as the Wildcats put a halt to a Trojans' four game series winning streak led by four John-David Bonner touchdown passes as part of a convincing 33 - 7 victory at home to conclude the wild 2020 regular season.

The Trojans got off to a shaky start as it took several minutes to determine who would run the first scrimmage play as a fumble occurred at the end of the opening kickoff return.  Saint James was granted the ball after a lengthy discussion, but three plays later did cough up a fumble and the Wildcats had a short field at the Trojans 33.  Bonner, whose rushing legs were as valuable as his passing arm, picked up two first downs on the ground and had a potential touchdown negated by a holding penalty.  However, on the next play, he lifted a toss to Parker Patterson in the far corner of the endzone for the first score of the game.  Grayden Flowers added the extra point, and Trinity was up 7 - 0 less than four minutes into the contest.

A three and out seemed to stifle the Trojans again, but a huge tackle on a punt jarred the ball loose from the Wildcat receiver and was pounced upon by Saint James giving them excellent field position to "continue" a drive at the Trinity 33.  A false start penalty pushed Saint James back, and they again could not convert a first down.  (They would not until the second quarter).  However a Brax Berrey punt was expertly covered and the ball was set down inside the one yard line giving the Wildcats a 99 plus yard scoring drive opportunity.  After a near quarterback sack in the endzone on first down, the Wildcats elected to punt on fourth and 1 from their own 10.  Zac Russell fielded the punt and returned the ball all the way to the Wildcat 15 giving the Trojans an even better opportunity to score.  However, Saint James was stopped on their fourth and one opportunity at the 6, but Trinity was pinned in deep once more.  Three plays later, however, they crossed the goal line.  After an incomplete pass, Bonner lifted a toss to Dawson Criswell who powered his way for a 48 yard gain all the way into Trojan territory.  On the first play of the second quarter, Bonner found Ellis wide open on a post pattern Saint James had executed successfully earlier in the season, and after a failed two point conversion run on a shifted alignment, the Wildcats had boosted their lead to 13 - 0.

Saint James finally "converted" a first down after a Bradley Thomas catch and run on the opening play of the next drive, but at the end of the reception and run the ball was wrestled away and recovered by Trinity.  However, a major penalty and a sack of Bonner led to an endzone punt, and the Trojans dodged a bullet.  On the next drive, the Wildcats picked up the first of three Trojan interceptions as Coleman Ellis made a diving catch on a slightly underthrown ball and Trinity regained possession.  Another sack of Bonner forced a punt which pinned Saint James down at its 16 yard line.  Cosner Harrison, after picking up 2 yards, broke loose on the longest Trojan run since Austin Gavin's 84 yard touchdown on the same field in 2018.  Harrison's 82 yard scamper for a touchdown was one of the longest in team history, and Holt Harrison's extra point gave the Trojans a renewal.  Despite three early turnovers, Saint James had cut the lead to six.  A defensive personal foul on the touchdown which was assessed on the kickoff appeared to be more beneficial for the Trojans, but the kickoff was returned to the 35 yard line, and on first down Chase Letner broke loose on a 45 yard run and followed up with another 11 yard run putting the Wildcats in immediate scoring territory just before halftime.  However, the drive stalled and a 36 yard field goal attempt was blown wide left by the frontal wind.  Harrison picked up 26 on a last first half drive for Saint James, but the Trojans opted to run out of the clock fortunate to be only six points behind.

The Wildcats opened the third quarter with a 9 play 73 yard drive, started by some Bonner runs and wrapped up with a 32 yard perfectly tossed touchdown pass to Jake Hufham.  The two point conversion play was attempted again, with the same result, but Trinity had doubled its lead to 19 - 7.  As in the first quarter, the Trojans could not convert a first down in the third quarter, and despite a good punt into the wind, Trinity began their next possession at midfield.  A defensive pass interference penalty gave the Wildcats a first down, and several plays later, Bonner tossed his second touchdown pass to Patterson - his fourth touchdown pass overall - for a nine yard score.  This time the Wildcats reverted to the single extra point attempt which Flowers converted, and the lead was a quickly more comfortable 26 - 7 late in the third quarter.

Patterson caught two touchdown passes in the game, but also intercepted two passes, his second on the first play of the next Trojan drive.  However, a holding penalty eventually led to another Trinity endzone punt.  Saint James returned the punt on the opening play of the fourth quarter.  The Wildcats were about to return the favor with their own punt, but the snap was muffed and Saint James took over on the Wildcat 32.  However, several plays later a halfback pass which worked for a Trojan touchdown earlier in the season was intercepted and returned all the way to the Saint James 28.  Backup quarterback Coleman Stanley carried the ball four consecutive times on quarterback keepers and sweeps; the final carry for 5 yards and the final score of the game.  The Flowers extra point sealed the victory and the scoring at 33 - 7.

Saint James had two more offensive drives and K.J. Jackson completed several nice passes, but the Trojans could never move into Wildcat territory as the clock was allowed to expire on the first almost cold and windy night of the football season.  Several players were held out of the game for Saint James, but they were expected to return as the Trojans looked forward to hosting a first round playoff game for the fifth consecutive year against the last team they played on the road in a first round playoff game, the Montevallo Bulldogs - and the season was about to "restart".
