After allowing 80 of the game total 103 yards rushing on the first scrimmage play of the game, the Trojans could not stop the air attack of Randy Farmer and Holtville as St. James failed to clinch a playoff berth and put their playoff chances in jeopardy by falling to the Bulldogs 24-0.

The Trojans marched down the field methodically on their first possession.  A ten yard pass to Barry Nave and an 11 yard run by Ben Freeman each converted third downs to keep the drive alive.  However, the Bulldog defense stiffened at the Trojan 16, and a 33 yard field goal attempt failed.  It took Holtville only one play to traverse 80 yards, as Kelvin Powers took the handoff on the first play and sped through the secondary en route to an 80 yard touchdown run, tying the longest touchdown run the Trojans had ever surrendered.  Quarterback Farmer, also the place kicker, put the Bulldogs up 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

The Trojans again moved the ball, especially on the ground thanks to Will Parker, but a penalty on a fourth down from the Bulldogs 38 forced a punt.  Holtville was stopped three and out, but a Bulldog interception on the next drive gave them the ball back at their own 33.  After a two yard run by Powers and an incomplete pass, Farmer lifted a long pass to Kyle Oates, who had zoomed past his defender, and Oates carried it into the endzone for a 65 yard touchdown.  This time, the extra point attempt was blocked, but the lead was 13-0 midway through the second quarter.

Neither team threatened again in the first half.  Holtville benefited from a penalty on a punt return to start a drive at the Trojan 40, but a 24 yard sack of the quarterback stopped that threat, as did a sack of the Trojan quarterback after a long completion to Nave.

Holtville started on their own 43 after a short kickoff to begin the third quarter, and Farmer completed three consecutive third down passes for first downs to advance the ball to the Trojan 8.  On second down, he tossed his fourth completion of the drive to Terry Ellis for a 7 yard touchdown.  He then completed another pass to Gary Oates for a two point conversion and a three touchdown lead with less than a quarter and a half to play.

St. James promptly turned over the ball on an interception on their first play, but a sack on fourth down prevented another immediate Holtville score.  However, a three and out gave the Bulldogs the ball back, and they sealed the victory with an 8 play 65 yard drive which ended with Farmer kicking a 22 yard field goal on the third play of the fourth quarter.   The Trojans turned the ball over on downs and by their third interception on their only two drives of the fourth quarter as Holtville maintained the shutout and clinched a playoff berth by default, hoping the Trojans could defeat Calera in the final week of the season to propel them to a tiebreaking area championship.
