Highlights: Joe and Tracy
Simpson were responsible for most of
the Blue Devil offense, and the Notasulga defense stifled the Trojans in
a 1986 Homecoming shutout in the first ever meeting between the two
teams. Greg Henderson started the scoring with a long
run on the fifth scrimmage play of the game, with Joe catching a two
point conversion pass from Tracy afterwards, and Notasulga was never
headed.
Each of the Simpsons scored on a touchdown run later in the game, but
both two point conversions failed.
The Devils outrushed the Trojans 172 - 80, even
though St. James had five more carries. The Trojans missed a
touchdown in the fourth quarter by inches, literally, as the Devils
stuffed the quarterback sneak on a fourth down from inside the half
yard line, preserving their shutout.
