The Capital City Conference Player of the Year in boys’ tennis was complicated as both Montgomery Academy’s John Alford and Trinity’s James Treadwell both had standout seasons. Alford went 20-5 in Class 7A, reaching the state finals, and 26-2 at No. 1 doubles, reaching the semifinals. He finished his career as the winningest doubles player in school history.
Treadwell was undefeated in Class 6A until he lost in the state tournament and owns the school record in both singles and doubles play.
The pair didn’t play each other during the regular season, so both were chosen as co-players of the year.
